In the first half of this year, Hechi carried out peer to peer services to help impoverished laborers return to work. To date, the number of impoverished workers in the city is 417,500, which is 108.43 percent of the total in the same period last year.
Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic, nearly 310,000 migrant workers in Hechi were stranded at home at the beginning of the year. In order to organize and guide migrant workers back to work on time, as well as support enterprises to resume work and production, the city has made every effort to provide chartered bus transportation services for workers to help them return to their positions.
The city has provided transportation services to 23,100 migrant workers, of whom 7,913 were impoverished laborers, as well as issued COVID-19 epidemic prevention materials or subsidies totaling 2.55 million yuan ($364,479.84) for 31,900 people, including 1.55 million yuan for 16,100 impoverished laborers.
The 619 employment poverty alleviation workshops in the city have employed 32,900 people, of which 6,023 were impoverished people.
Hechi has also further developed public welfare jobs to promote local employment. A total of 38,165 positions were created for 34,653 impoverished laborers.
In addition, various human resources and social support policies have been implemented to help enterprises stabilize employment, while 19 enterprises in the city that provide urgently needed materials for COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control have received 2.88 million yuan in employment subsidies.
