On Aug 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 43 new cases of confirmed infections (7 imported cases, 3 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Shandong province, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Guangdong province; 36 indigenous cases, 28 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and 8 in Liaoning province), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai municipality), and no deaths. 10 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 560 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

In all, 1,997 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 95 confirmed cases (including 2 in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Aug 2, the National Health Commission had received reports of 84,428 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 79,013 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 781 confirmed cases (including 35 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 791,776 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 21,585 were still under medical observation.

As of 24:00 on Aug 2, 257 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 102 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Aug 2, 4,031 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 3,511 in Hong Kong (35 had died and 1,959 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 474 in Taiwan (7 had died and 441 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
