Xinchang Ancient Town is located in Shanghai. It was named after the southward relocation of the Xiasha Salt Field 800 years ago, indicating it was a new salt field. With the development of the salt industry here, salt merchants and vendors flooded into the town, and for a time the town grew even more prosperous than the center of Shanghai. It was said that “the small Xinchang Town could match the city of Suzhou.”Bridges, streams, folk houses, lanes, teahouses, old shops, and ancient temples constitute a picture of the “Jiangnan water town”.
