On Aug 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 49 new cases of confirmed infections (16 imported cases, 4 in Sichuan province, 3 in Shandong province, 3 in Hubei province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Fujian province; 33 indigenous cases, 30 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and 3 in Liaoning province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 14 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 145 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 3.
As of 24:00 on Aug 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,085 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,994 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 91 confirmed cases (including 3 in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Aug 1, the National Health Commission had received reports of 84,385 confirmed cases (decreased by 1 by Xinjiang after verification) and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 79,003 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 748 confirmed cases (including 36 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 791,054 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 21,445 were still under medical observation.
On Aug 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 20 new asymptomatic cases (including 9 imported cases). 11 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 3 imported cases) and 4 cases became confirmed cases (all were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 1, 257 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 101 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Aug 1, 3,916 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 3,396 in Hong Kong (31 had died and 1,858 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 474 in Taiwan (7 had died and 441 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
