In the first half of 2020, Hechi achieved a regional GDP of 42.19 billion yuan ($6.03 billion), a year-on-year increase of 2.4 percent, of which the primary, second, and tertiary industries increased by 4 percent, 2.4 percent, and 2.1 percent respectively.
From January to June this year, the city's total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery was 11.22 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.1 percent and an increase of 4.6 percent from the first quarter of the year.
Hechi's agriculture industry maintained stable and increased production. The vegetable output reached 31,600 tons, a year-on-year increase of 5 percent, and the pasture area was 479,800 hectares, a year-on-year increase of 67.7 percent. In the second quarter of 2020, timber and bamboo cuttings totaled 1.44 million cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 22 percent. The forestry output value was 1.04 billion yuan in the first half of the year, up 14.7 percent.
In addition, the animal husbandry output value was 6.59 billion yuan and the mulberry orchard area was 886,000 mu (59,066.67 hectares), with the output of silkworm cocoons reaching 53,900 tons, a year-on-year increase of 12.4 percent.
Industrial production rebounded and key industries achieved growth. In the first half of the year, Hechi's total industrial output value above designated size increased by 1.1 percent year-on-year, and the added value of industries above designated scale increased 1.2 percent year-on-year.
Hechi's electricity and heat production and supply industries, non-ferrous metal industries, as well as alcohol and beverage manufacturing industries have seen their added value rebound.
Consumption decline in Hechi has narrowed substantially. The rate of decline of the total retail sales of consumer goods narrowed 4.8 percent from the first quarter of the year. The tourism industry has also gradually recovered. From January to June, the total number of tourists in the city was 10.64 million.
The construction industry has become a highlight in Hechi's development. The city's construction industry completed a total output value of 3.96 billion yuan in the past six months, a year-on-year increase of 20.1 percent, with the growth rate ranking first in Guangxi.
In the first half of 2020, 81 construction companies with qualifications settled in Hechi, an increase of 16 percent over the same period of the previous year, and the value of signed contracts reached 17.99 billion yuan.
