From January to June this year, Hechi's import and export value reached 1.58 billion yuan ($225.73 million), a year-on-year increase of 38.3 percent, according to Hechi Customs.
Since the beginning of this year, Hechi has vigorously cultivated new growth points for the export-oriented economy. The support for leading enterprises in characteristic industries has been strengthened while optimizing the traditional cocoon silk, rattan weaving products, calcium carbonate, and mineral water industries. The city has helped enterprise improve product quality, obtain export qualifications, and expand into international markets.
Hechi Customs has also instructed import and export enterprises on how to make good use of the preferential policies for certificates of origin. In the first half of this year, a total of 120 certificates of origin were issued for goods, with a value of $4.01 million, an increase of 78 percent. At present, the number of import and export enterprises in the jurisdiction of Hechi Customs has exceeded 200, and a total of 117 million yuan of import taxes have been collected.
In order to reduce the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic on its economy, Hechi Customs paid visits to 115 production-oriented foreign trade companies, as well as publicized and implemented policies and measures to promote foreign trade and stabilize growth.
In addition, designated personnel have been arranged for handling qualified applications and special affairs. Green channels have been opened for imported anti-epidemic materials and production raw materials, while online processing for all businesses that require on-site submission of documents has been implemented. Enterprises have also been encouraged to handle relevant businesses through pre-clearance to reduce the time and cost of customs clearance.
