July 29: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 101 new cases of confirmed infections (3 imported cases, 2 in Guangdong province and 1 in Shanghai municipality; 98 indigenous cases, 89 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 8 in Liaoning province and 1 in Beijing municipality), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 10 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 325 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 5.
As of 24:00 on July 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,056 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,977 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 79 confirmed cases (including 2 in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on July 28, the National Health Commission had received reports of 84,060 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 78,944 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 482 confirmed cases (including 25 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 783,053 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 15,034 were still under medical observation.
On July 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 27 new asymptomatic cases (including 8 imported cases). 9 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 5 imported cases) and 51 cases became confirmed cases (all were indigenous cases). As of 24:00 on July 28, 273 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 91 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on July 28, 3,397 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 2,884 in Hong Kong (23 had died and 1,527 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 467 in Taiwan (7 had died and 440 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
