The annual throughput of the transport industry in Dalian was 909.65 billion ton-kilometers in 2018, an increase of 4.3 percent year-on-year. Dalian's annual cargo throughput was 900.75 billion ton-kilometers, up 4.3 percent year-on-year. Passenger traffic was 23.48 billion person-kilometers, an increase of 5.9 percent.

Sea ports in Dalian handled 460 million metric tons of cargo in 2018, up 4.3 percent year-on-year. The throughput of containers was roughly 9.71 million twenty-foot equivalent units, or TEUs, a 1.3 increase year-on-year. Dalian had 108 maritime containers transport routes, of which 86 were for foreign trade.

Dalian's airport recorded annual traffic of 17.50 million passengers in 2018, increasing by 14.7 percent year-on-year. Annual cargo and postal throughout was 165,000 tons, up 10.7 percent from the previous year.

A total of 141,000 flights took off and landed at the Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport in 2018. Flights from Dalian can reach 116 domestic and foreign cities via 210 flight routes.

Postal service operators reported 2.89 billion yuan in turnover, increasing by 27.3 percent. A total of 1.15 billion parcels were delivered to Dalian or to other parts of China from Dalian, up 30.9 percent. Telecoms service providers reported a turnover of 18.92 billion yuan, surging 72.2 percent on 2017. There were 8.88 million mobile phone users and 1.68 million broadband users active in the city at the end of 2018, increasing 6.6 percent and 12 percent respectively.

In 2018, the number of domestic tourists to Dalian was 84.10 million, increasing 10.2 percent year-on-year. The number of international tourists who stayed in Dalian at least one night was 1.06 million, an increase of 1.9 percent.

The total tourist income of the city was 128.01 billion yuan, up 12.8 percent. In 2018, Dalian had 141 star-rated hotels and 450 travel agents, with the city boasting 57 A-rated tourism sites.

A total of 130 expos were held in Dalian in 2018, up 22.6 percent. The total exhibition area was 1.31 million square meters. The total number of visitors to expos was 9.8 million.
