Agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, fishery and service industries in Dalian reported a total output value of 98.32 billion yuan ($13.09 billion) in 2018, up 4.5 percent year-on-year. Of that, 28.7 billion yuan was from the agricultural sector, an increase of 7.5 percent. The output value of the forestry sector was 870 million yuan, down by 4.3 percent year-on-year. The output value of the animal husbandry sector was 18.69 billion yuan, an increase of 24.8 percent. The fishing industry output value was 41.34 billion yuan, a decrease of 0.5 percent. The output value of the service sector – relating to the agricultural, forestry, animal husbandry and fishing services industry -- reached 8.72 billion yuan, an increase of 9.3 percent.

Total production of crops in 2018 was 1.22 million metric tons, with an average yield of 4,501 kilos per hectare, down 8.3 percent and 8.4 percent respectively from the previous year.

The total output of fruit was 1.78 million tons, a decrease of 3.7 percent. The total output of vegetables and edible mushrooms was 1.78 million tons, decreasing 17.6 percent year-on-year.

Meat production was 717,000 tons, up 1.2 percent year-on-year. Egg production increased 4 percent to 248,000 tons in 2018. Milk production was 57,000 tons, up 5.6 percent year-on-year. The output of seafood products decreased 1.5 percent to 2.47 million tons.

In 2018, a total of 11.29 million trees were planted, which helped add 5,667 hectares of forest in Dalian. Dalian had 3,102 hectares of plant nurseries and it produced 155 million seedlings in 2018. The forest coverage rate of Dalian was 41.5 percent in 2018 and its green coverage rate reached 50 percent.

A total of 389 water resources conservation and protection projects were launched in 2018 with an added water storage capacity of 747,000 cubic meters.

In 2018, the city had an additional 2,253 hectares of water-saving featured irrigation areas. Upgrading projects were carried out in 3,560 hectares of irrigation area.

By the end of 2018, Dalian had 95 modern agricultural parks and the city had 1,047 eco-friendly green and organic agricultural and livestock products. It had 86 leading agricultural products, which were recognized by authorities above the municipal level. There were 214 leading agricultural enterprises above the municipal level, 142 professional farmers cooperatives and 43 family demonstration farms.

In 2018, 78.7 percent of agricultural production process in Dalian could be done by machine.
