Visitors to Shenyang Bird Island in Shenyang -- the capital city of Northeast China's Liaoning province -- can now also catch a look at a number of mammals and other animals, rather than only birds, according to local media reports.
Officials at the scenic spot said that since its reopening this year, some projects have been introduced, to bring new experiences to visitors.
These include the pelican pavilion, marmot pavilion, macaque pavilion and pheasant pavilion, which are all proving to be a real hit with visitors, especially children.
The new pheasant pavilion displays white-necked long-tailed pheasants, white-crowned long-tailed pheasants, blue eared pheasants and other unusual birds.
Experts said the white-necked long-tailed pheasant is a bird specific to China and is also a national first-class protected bird, making it extremely precious.
Officials said that Shenyang Bird Island is a great place for sightseeing, watching the birds and having a relaxing break in Shenyang and the spot will continue to add new projects for visitors.
