July 24: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 21 new cases of confirmed infections (6 imported cases, 5 in Guangdong province and 1 in Shanghai municipality; 15 indigenous cases, 13 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and 2 in Liaoning province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 18 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 66 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.
As of 24:00 on July 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,029 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,951 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 78 confirmed cases (including 2 in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on July 23, the National Health Commission had received reports of 83,750 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 78,873 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 243 confirmed cases (including 12 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 773,802 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,526 were still under medical observation.
On July 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 43 new asymptomatic cases (including 9 imported cases). 4 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 2 imported cases) and 11 cases became confirmed cases (all are indigenous cases). As of 24:00 on July 23, 204 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 96 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on July 23, 2,750 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 2,249 in Hong Kong (15 had died and 1,379 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 455 in Taiwan (7 had died and 440 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
