A launch ceremony for Yantai's efforts to become a pioneer in industrial design was held in the coastal city in East China's Shandong province on July 18.
Five major projects deals for the building of an industrial design internet platform, a national intelligent manufacturing industrial design institute, and an industrial design innovation university were signed among colleges and institutions in Yantai.
Liu Ning, president of the China Industrial Design Association, said at the ceremony that Yantai is working to implement 10 major projects to promote the development of industrial design and help the city develop into a hub for industrial design.
On July 18, 2018, the Sino-German Industrial Design Center and the Shandong Industrial Design and Research Institute were both launched in Yantai.
These projects are meant to accelerate the upgrading of industries and help promote the high-quality development of Yantai.
The Global Design Industry Organization (GDIO) was also launched during the ceremony. It serves as an exchange and cooperation platform for the international design industry and was jointly founded by design organizations, universities, and enterprises from more than 40 countries and regions.
The GDIO will provide Yantai with sustainable international resources and strengthen international cooperation.
