July 18: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 22 new cases of confirmed infections (6 imported cases, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Shandong province and 1 in Fujian province; 16 indigenous cases in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region), 1 new case of suspected infections (an indigenous case in Xinjiang), and no deaths. 21 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 129 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on July 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,004 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,920 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 84 confirmed cases (including 3 in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on July 17, the National Health Commission had received reports of 83,644 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 78,758 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 252 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 768,470 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 4,072 were still under medical observation.

On July 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new asymptomatic cases (including 5 imported cases). 9 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 7 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on July 17, 109 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 77 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 17, 2,213 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,713 in Hong Kong (11 had died and 1,264 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 454 in Taiwan (7 had died and 440 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
