July 16: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 1 new case of confirmed infections (an imported case in Shanghai municipality), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 26 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 364 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on July 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 1,989 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,905 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 84 confirmed cases (including 2 in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on July 15, the National Health Commission had received reports of 83,612 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 78,719 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 259 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 767,532 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 3,313 were still under medical observation.
On July 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 2 new asymptomatic cases (including 1 imported case). 8 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 7 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on July 15, 104 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 81 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on July 15, 2,085 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,588 in Hong Kong (10 had died and 1,241 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (45 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 451 in Taiwan (7 had died and 440 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
