Zhoushan cold chain logistics base wins national title

A cold chain logistics base in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province was recently shortlisted to become a national backbone cold chain logistics base.

A total of 17 such bases across the country made the list, which was released by the National Development and Reform Commission.

The NDRC will grant the bases with preferential policies and funds to support their further growth and encourage them to cement links with each other. A dynamic monitoring mechanism will also be put in place to decide which bases will be included or phased out.

The cold chain logistics base in Zhoushan is constructed based on the cold chain logistics facilities in the Zhoushan National Pelagic Fishery Base.

Currently, the fishery base has the largest cold chain logistics facility cluster in Zhejiang, with a storage capacity of roughly 350,000 metric tons. It also boasts more than 30 large refrigerated cargo ships, with shipping routes covering all oceans in the world.

A spokesman from the Zhoushan National Pelagic Fishery Base said that efforts will be made to promote the renovation of cold chain logistics facilities and improve service capacity and efficiency.
