The coastal city of Xiamen in East China's Fujian province is making efforts to promote the digitalization of traditional industries and ensure the high-quality growth of the economy, according to a forum held in the city July 9.
The forum, organized by Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, gathered government officials and enterprise representatives from Microsoft, IBM, Huawei and Alibaba, to discuss the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries.
Local authorities said that Xiamen has helped more than 400 traditional small and medium-sized enterprises achieve digitalization in the last year, and the city plans to foster a batch of benchmarking enterprises to achieve digital transformation.
Industry leaders such as IBM, Huawei and Alibaba have made efforts to facilitate the construction of new infrastructure such as 5G networks and data centers, with the aim of offering support to enterprises in the process of digitalization.
Liang Deliang, from Huawei Technologies, said that the company is focusing on the development of 5G, artificial intelligence (AI) and industrial internet, and it will set up an intelligent world featuring the "internet of everything".
Liang added that Huawei Cloud will increase input into digital transformation in Xiamen, introduce the latest technologies including cloud computing, big data and AI, and expand cooperation with the city in areas of intelligent manufacturing and talent training, in order to create a system of new-generation information technology.
