Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region is planning to set up digital book-reading sites in eight public places, such as bus stations, shopping malls, tourist information centers, and gymnasiums, after it opened a reading station in Pearl Cave Scenic Zone in April 2020.
The city has made strong efforts to provide cultural services to the public in recent years.
In the past three years, Hechi has hosted more than 250 large-scale cultural events to stimulate public enthusiasm for participating in cultural activities.
All 11 public libraries, 12 cultural centers, and 139 township (street) cultural stations in Hechi are opened to the public for free. In the past three years, libraries at all levels, cultural centers, and township cultural stations have conducted 395 lectures, 1,401 exhibitions, 3,577 training courses, and 6,598 cultural performances, benefiting more than 100,000 people.
Since 2016, the city has carried out 1,458 cultural performances and 53,892 screenings of public welfare films in rural areas, attracting 4.1 million viewers, which has greatly enriched the cultural life of rural residents. Moreover, in 2019, Hechi Art Center hosted free training classes in many elementary schools, technical schools, and senior colleges in Jinchengjiang district, covering calligraphy, vocal music, and hand drums.
To date, Hechi has built 1,359 village (community) public service centers. By the end of this year, the total number of village-level cultural service centers in the will reach 1,447.
