Baotou in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region has been making great efforts in developing a green industrial system -- with three green industrial parks and 15 green factories developed in the city so far, according to a report in the Baotou Evening News.
Since the 13th Five Year Plan (2016-2020), Baotou has implemented a dual-target assessment system for energy consumption and energy savings for key energy-consuming businesses.
Through monthly monitoring and analysis, mid-term target inspections and year-end target assessments, Baotou has increased its efforts to meet energy-saving targets and it has continuously improved the energy efficiency of the city’s key energy-using enterprises.
In the first four years of the 13th Five Year Plan, the energy consumption per unit of industrial added value of industrial enterprises in Baotou above a designated scale -- those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.8 million) or more -- dropped by 11 percent. From January to May this year, the energy consumption per unit of industrial added value decreased by 3.02% year-on-year.
From January to May this year, industrial value-added energy consumption of manufacturers fell by 3.02 percent year-on-year.
Officials said the city has launched the development of an intelligent monitoring platform for industrial energy consumption.
Also, the city has promoted the implementation of its industrial transformation and accelerated the supply-side structural reforms in the industrial sector.
Officials said it has formed an industrial green manufacturing system interconnected by green factories, green products, green parks and green supply chains -- to drive its regional green transformation.
