Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has built 179,700 mu (11,980 hectares) of standard farmland construction since 2019, effectively promoting the construction of high-standard farmland in the city to a new level. It has ranked first in performance evaluation in the whole region, receiving an award of 5 million yuan ($712,732.6).
High-standard farmland has characteristics of high and stable yields, as well as strong disaster resistance, which lay a solid foundation for grain production, ensure the basic supply of major agricultural products, and increase farmers' incomes.
In order to ensure that farmland construction is standardized and intensive, Hechi requires that 11 counties (districts) of the city establish high-standard farmland construction demonstration areas with unified standards, strict requirements, special personnel follow-ups, and on-site supervision.
In 2020, the city has actively promoted the construction of a 251,000-mu high-standard farmland project and a 17,000-mu high-efficiency water-saving irrigation project. At present, the city has selected and measured high-standard farmland construction projects with a red map area of 277,200 mu, divided into 108 projects. The approval of the project planning and design report for this year's projects was completed in early June, and it is now awaiting approval from the autonomous region.
