Twelve provinces and cities in China, including Shandong, Tianjin, Jilin, Heilongjiang and Fujian, jointly established an alliance in Jinan, Shandong province on July 7 aimed at promoting Chinese medicinal procurement.
The alliance includes six production areas with planting area of Chinese medicinal herbs accounting for around 45 percent of the country's total planting area.
The alliance is expected to strengthen cultural, scientific and technological exchange and trade cooperation in the field of traditional Chinese medicine and promote the procurement of Chinese medicinal materials to reduce costs.
The move also has the potential to further speed up the development of the traditional Chinese Medicine industry.
