Yantai takes measures to promote science and technology reform

The coastal city of Yantai announced 10 measures to promote science and technology reform at a news conference on July 7.

The measures are divided into four sections, including science and technology management, park and innovation platform construction, and science and technology services.

The local government will support the development of key laboratories, technological innovation centers, and clinical medical research centers at or above the provincial level.

Subsidies for establishing national science and technology innovation centers will be increased from 2 million yuan ($286,450.87) to 3 million yuan.

The city will also accelerate the cultivation of major industrial clusters and focus on promoting the development of high-end enterprises. Small and medium-sized enterprises will enjoy preferential policies for R&D expenses.

Yantai currently has a total of 823 high-end enterprises, ranking third among cities in Shandong province.

The city has created a strong environment for the development of science and technology. From January to June, the city's technical contract turnover reached 4.781 billion yuan, up 15.57 percent year on year.

At the provincial scientific and technological innovation conference held on July 2, 2020, Yantai won 25 provincial science and technology awards.
