The Jinan government rolled out a series of policies to support the city's National Next-Generation Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Development Pilot Zone, which was approved this January, at a news conference on July 3.
The city plans to cultivate 10 leading AI enterprises and develop three major industrial clusters.
The value of the city's core artificial intelligence sector is expected to reach 20 billion yuan ($2.83 billion) and increase the value of related industries to 200 billion yuan.
The support policy consists of 14 measures involving optimizing the industrial structure, strengthening infrastructure and innovation platforms, cultivating high-end talent, and increasing financial support.
Subsidies will be provided to AI enterprises that need to rent servers at the supercomputing center. An enterprise can receive up to 500,000 yuan in subsidies to rent servers for R&D.
For enterprises involved in developing major AI application scenarios, financial subsidies equal to 30 percent of actual total investment will be provided.
Companies that undertake or participate in major national science and technology projects or national R&D plans related to artificial intelligence will receive subsidies equal to 15 percent of state funding up to an amount of 10 million yuan.
