July 4: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 3 new cases of confirmed infections (2 imported cases, 1 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Guangdong province; 1 indigenous case in Beijing municipality), 2 new cases of suspected infections (1 imported case in Shanghai and 1 indigenous case in Beijing), and no deaths. 10 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 794 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 2.
As of 24:00 on July 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 1,925 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,859 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 66 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on July 3, the National Health Commission had received reports of 83,545 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 78,509 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 402 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases. 763,277 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 4,993 were still under medical observation.
On July 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 4 new asymptomatic cases (including 3 imported cases). 3 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 1 imported case) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on July 3, 98 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 61 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on July 3, 1,742 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,247 in Hong Kong (7 had died and 1,125 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (45 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 449 in Taiwan (7 had died and 438 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
