In recent years, Hohhot -- capital city of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- has vigorously promoted national and local ecological construction projects and has boosted its environmental protection and restoration of natural reserves, according to a report in the Hohhot Daily.
Last year it launched a series of green measures, including the promotion of nine green restoration projects, while all 100 industrial and mining enterprises in the Daqingshan Nature Reserve were withdrawn and the restoration of 555,000 mu (37,000 hectares) of land was completed, officials said.

They said the level of urban landscaping was comprehensively improved, with a newly added green area of 1,245 mu and more than 17.2 million seedlings planted.
Officials said that last year the city's forest coverage rate increased to 21.59 percent, and the green coverage rate in the built-up area reached 40.02 percent.
In 2020, Hohhot plans to promote further green actions.
Officials said it will compile plans for the eco-cultural tourist area of the front slope of Daqing Mountain and continue to implement key green projects such as natural forest protection, the second phase of Beijing-Tianjin wind and sand source management and returning farmland to forests.
The construction of the Chulechuan Grassland Ecological Valley is to start, and 412,000 mu of national land ecological restoration and management will be completed throughout the year.
