Xi'an High-tech Industries Development Zone (XHTZ) is to build the first national key & core technology innovation demonstration zone, according to a launch conference held in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, on June 15.
Xi'an has unique advantages in developing its key & core technology industry, said Li Mingyuan, mayor of Xi'an.
The city will promote technological innovation and the organic integration of science and technology, finance, industry and talents, in order to form an industrial cluster with core technologies and high competitiveness, Li added.
At the conference, XHTZ released the work plan for the construction of its key & core technology innovation demonstration zone.
By 2025, the demonstration zone will be built and will form a batch of replicable key & core technology development models and institutional innovation experiences.
It will also produce a batch of key & core technology achievements, occupying the high end of the global industrial chain and successfully completing major innovation demonstration projects.
By then, the scale of the key & core technology industry in XHTZ will reach 500 billion yuan ($70.7 billion), and more than 3,000 companies related to the industry will reach 100 billion yuan of business volume in key & core technologies, including over 30 listed companies.
An expert committee was also established to give valuable suggestions in propelling the demonstration zone's construction and development.
