On June 17, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 28 new cases of confirmed infections (4 imported cases, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Shaanxi province and 1 in Gansu province; 24 indigenous cases, 21 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Hebei province and 1 in Tianjin municipality), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all are indigenous cases in Beijing), and no deaths. 15 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 153 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. There still remained 265 confirmed cases (including 9 cases in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases. 754,966 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 5,220 were still under medical observation.

As of 24:00 on June 17, 1,610 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,120 in Hong Kong (4 had died and 1,071 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 445 in Taiwan (7 had died and 434 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
