June 17: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On June 16, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 44 new cases of confirmed infections (11 imported cases, 10 in Gansu province and 1 in Sichuan province; 33 indigenous cases, 31 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Hebei province and 1 in Zhejiang province), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all are indigenous cases in Beijing), and no deaths. 2 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 116 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 2.
As of 24:00 on June 16, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,856 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,754 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 102 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on June 16, the National Health Commission had received reports of 83,265 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 78,379 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 252 confirmed cases (including 7 cases in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases. 754,269 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 4,683 were still under medical observation.
On June 16, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 11 new asymptomatic cases (including 4 imported cases). 9 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 4 imported cases) and 6 became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on June 16, 106 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 62 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on June 16, 1,602 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,112 in Hong Kong (4 had died and 1,069 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 445 in Taiwan (7 had died and 433 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
