The general plan for Quzhou playing a role as a model city for mass sports and fitness was released recently, with the city to construct a spatial development pattern of "one core, one axis, one ring area and six sports districts", according to local media reports, June 13.
One core–sports and leisure development in Quzhou
Relying on intensive population distribution, political, economic and cultural development within the region, the central urban area will distribute middle and high-end services, form high-quality districts, and take a leading role in the whole region.
Space scope: The central city will include some streets and towns in Kecheng and Qujiang districts, with 12 streets, 50 communities, 12 towns and 16 villages. The total area will be 255 square kilometers.
One axis–aquatics (along picturesque landscape belt in Quzhou)
The development of the axis of aquatics (along a picturesque landscape belt in Quzhou) relies on Qujiang River - the main source of the Qiantang River, which runs through the central districts of Hangzhou from the southwest to the northeast, especially Changshan Port and other key areas with development significance.
Additionally, the axis will focus on water sports laying out amphibious sports projects to beautify the environment, protect the ecology, and activate the development vitality of the areas along Qujiang River.
Space scope: Qujiang River, Changshan Port, Majinxi River, Jiangshan Port, total length of 289 km
One ring area – mountain sports development
The development ring of mountain sports will rely on prominent natural resources such as Jianglang Mountain, centering on various mountain leisure sports, which together with the development axis of aquatics will constitute an example of the "Two Mountains" theory – which states that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets – in Quzhou.
Space layout: one 600-km-long mountain sports route network
Six sports districts
The six sports districts will depend on resources and existing constructions in each district, county, and county-level city.
