During the second quarter of this year, Southwest China's Guizhou province introduced 156 industrial projects to 12 poverty-stricken counties and districts, which had a total contract amount of 20.09 billion yuan ($2.83 billion).
The investment promotion departments at all levels encouraged developed cities and prefectures to help poverty-stricken counties and districts; large counties to help small counties; and chambers of commerce to provide targeted assistance.
The goal is to help the 12 poverty-stricken counties and districts attract no less than 200 projects or companies, bringing employment to around 2,500 people.
Guiyang city, Zunyi city, and Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture's investment promotion departments have organized work teams to assist the poverty-stricken areas in cities like Anshun, Liupanshui, Bijie and Tongren, and in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture and Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture.
By learning the needs of industrial poverty alleviation projects and workshops, the departments utilize the company and chamber of commerce resources in areas receiving the assistance, guide the areas to do the basic work of project negotiation and launching, and organize for entrepreneurs to visit the areas.
Meanwhile, the areas' investment promotion departments also guide its cities and districts towards solid industrial foundations, abundant companies with stable employment and strong investment attraction abilities, to help the poverty-stricken counties.
So far, agreements have been signed to purchase agricultural products, make poverty alleviation plans and seek investors.
