Hohhot in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region is set to further boost its cross-border e-commerce in the wake of the new China (Hohhot) Cross-border E-Commerce Comprehensive Pilot Zone which was officially launched on June 10, according to news agency Xinhua.
On July 24, 2018, the State Council -- China’s Cabinet -- officially approved its establishment and Hohhot became one of the third batch of cities in China to establish a cross-border e-commerce pilot zone.
Officials said the pilot zone will build itself as a key part of Hohhot’s Horinger new area, and create two cross-border e-commerce service platforms for online public services and the development of offline parks.
They said it will improve the six major systems of information sharing, financial services, intelligent logistics, e-commerce credit, statistical monitoring and risk prevention and control.
Officials said it will focus on building a new internet plus foreign trade e-commerce model to serve Hohhot, as well as the autonomous region.
It is expected to develop an “online silk road” for Hohhot, even Inner Mongolia, with global influence.
In addition, Inner Mongolia’s first cross-border e-commerce new retail demonstration store was officially opened in Horinger new area on the launch day of the comprehensive pilot zone.
Officials said it will provide more options and convenience for residents’ international shopping purchases.
