Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, introduced targeted measures to increase consumption and support the recovery and development of consumer service sectors, according to a news conference on June 5.
The city announced 13 specific moves to stimulate consumption, including fostering new forms of consumption, promoting the integrated development of culture and tourism, boosting the nighttime economy, boosting duty-free and tax-rebate businesses, and supporting e-commerce poverty-alleviation projects.
A series of promotional activities will be arranged in an effort to drive up consumer demand and boost economic recovery.
Online and offline resources will be integrated, and the real economy is expected to benefit from online platforms.
The measures encourage high-end and well-known commercial brands to set up operations in Xiamen in order to restore the high-end product market, and the local government will increase imports of major consumer goods in an effort to restore demand for imports.
The city will also continue to promote Xiamen brands to a wider audience and work to enhance the brand competitiveness of Xiamen products.
In addition, time-honored Minnan (southern Fujian) brands will be revitalized and encouraged to go global.
