Media tour themed on poverty alleviation starts in Dahua

Journalists and editors of Guangxi started their tour on June 8 in Dahua Yao autonomous county, Hechi to conduct field interviews in the region's poverty-stricken villages, publicizing the effective practices and successful achievements of Guangxi residents of all ethnic groups in their poverty alleviation efforts.

The event was hosted by the Guangxi Publicity Department and the Guangxi Internet Information Office, and undertaken by Guangxi Daily, Dangdai Guangxi, and Guangxi Radio and TV Station.

More than 1,000 journalists and editors of media institutions at the three levels of autonomous region, city, and county, as well as national media in Guangxi, online media, and major commercial websites were organized to take part in the event.

Guangxi is one of the main battlefields for poverty alleviation in the country. Since 2015, the region has lifted 4.5 million people out of poverty and its incidence of poverty dropped from 10.5 percent to 0.6 percent. A total of 4,719 poverty-stricken villages and 46 impoverished counties have been lifted out of poverty successfully.

This year, Guangxi will complete the task of lifting the remaining 240,000 impoverished people out of poverty and build a moderately well-off society in all respects.
