June 9: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On June 8, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 3 new cases of confirmed infections (all are imported cases, 2 in Guangdong province and 1 in Sichuan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 10 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 396 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on June 8, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,783 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,726 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 57 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on June 8, the National Health Commission had received reports of 83,043 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 78,351 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 58 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. So far, 747,232 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 2,971 are now under medical observation.
On June 8, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 21 new asymptomatic cases (including 2 imported cases). 47 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 2 imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on June 8, 174 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 43 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on June 8, 1,595 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,107 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 1,049 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 443 in Taiwan (7 had been dead and 430 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
