In recent years, based on its resource advantages, Yizhou district in Hechi has vigorously promoted the development of industries, innovated and optimized the industrialized business model, as well as boosted people's incomes as part of its poverty alleviation efforts.
The district has created demonstration bases for characteristic industries, such as pepper, walnuts, silkworm, sugarcane, special breeding, and leisure tourism, to expand their industry scale and achieve more benefits. At present, the district has 179 modern agricultural demonstration zones and plans to build 75 more in 2020.
Based on its land resources advantages and its current development situation, the district has built a development pattern of poverty alleviation industries with multiple supports. It has recruited professional technical personnel to set up a number of agricultural industry technical expert service teams to provide training for impoverished households and new business entities.
Yizhou has also issued preferential policies to help industries and leading enterprises with good growth and broad development prospects. It has actively built online sales platforms for agricultural products, providing technical services, project support, information sharing, policy support, and logistics construction to broaden sales channels, as well as promote the industrialization and diversification of agriculture.
In addition, the district has given awards to characteristic industries and innovative industries according to local conditions. From 2016 to 2019, the investment in rural industrial development in the district amounted to 128.59 million yuan ($18.08 million), of which a total of 15.76 million yuan in funds for the 18 poverty alleviation industries, such as silkworm, sugarcane, and camellia, were released in 2019, benefiting 4,622 impoverished households.
