June 8: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On June 7, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 4 new cases of confirmed infections (all are imported cases, 3 in Sichuan province and 1 in Shanghai municipality), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 9 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 479 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on June 7, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,780 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,717 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 63 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on June 7, the National Health Commission had received reports of 83,040 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 78,341 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 65 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. So far, 747,066 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 3,232 are now under medical observation.
On June 7, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 2 new asymptomatic cases (both are imported cases). 37 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 1 imported case) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on June 7, 201 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 44 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on June 7, 1,594 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,106 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 1,049 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 443 in Taiwan (7 had been dead and 430 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
