An event on cooking exchanges between Chinese and foreign residents was held on May 27 in the Jianshe community of Guangzhou's Yuexiu district, showcasing several delicious cuisines featuring both exotic and local styles.
Two foreigners from Congo named Jesse and Stevis cooked two traditional cuisines from their home country, including pan-fried chicken breast.
Another foreign participant of the event named Sisa, a student at Guangdong University of Finance, said that she has been living in the Jianshe community for over four years and she often takes part in the local volunteer services, such as offering help in translation and consultation at the foreigner service station.
Being a community that is home to many foreigners, the Jianshe community set up its foreigner service station in 2015 and has devoted great efforts in improving its services.
The community has been carrying out a variety of activities for communication recently, spanning economic, trade, sports, culture, and volunteer services to establish a bridge between China and foreign countries, helping foreigners living in the community to better integrate into the local society.
