Jiaxing, a city in East China's Zhejiang province, published policies to promote the construction of integrated ecological development demonstration areas in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region on May 27, Jiaxing Daily reported.
A document entitled Implementation Opinions on Promoting the Construction of Integrated Ecological Development Demonstration Areas in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) Region specifies ways to promote the development of demonstration areas.
Jiashan county in Jiaxing, Qingpu district in Shanghai, and Wujiang district in Suzhou, Jiangsu have been selected as demonstration areas for the integrated ecological development of the YRD region.
The document states that Jiaxing will develop Jiashan into a shining example of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
By the end of this year, the Jiaxing municipal government and Jiashan county government plan to formulate a development scheme for Jiashan.
By 2025, infrastructure, the natural environment, and public services will be further improved in the county and regional GDP will exceed 100 billion yuan ($13.97 billion), double the 2018 amount.
By 2035, Jiashan is expected to be a model for environmental protection and making full use of its environmental advantages. It is also expected to become a model for ecofriendly and innovative development and a pilot county for integrated development.
The document also made clear that Jiashan will pursue innovative development, environmental protection, governmental modernization, infrastructure modernization, rural-urban integrated development, and the improvement of living standards in the following years.
