To celebrate International Mountain Tourism Day on May 29, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, held an outdoor hike.
The activity included one 10-kilometer event and one 5-kilometer event, and aimed to attract as many citizens as possible to contribute to the popularity and development of outdoor sports.
In the future, all the sports departments in Guizhou will also organize various fitness activities, making use of the area's abundant mountain tourism resources.
Yan An, one of the participants, said that he weighed 85 kilograms two months ago, but thanks to daily hiking and a healthy diet, he has lost 5 kilograms in just one month.

As well as individual participants, there were also sports enthusiasts signing up for the activity in teams. One of the enthusiasts, Li Bohao, said that outdoor sport is one of their first choices for team-building, which can bring everyone closer to each other.
An online version of the activity, which will last for a month, was also launched. Participants can register with their real name on the "E-do Sport" app and sign up. The first 500 participants to finish the hike will receive a gift.
International Mountain Tourism Day was initiated by the International Mountain Tourism Alliance and falls on May 29 every year. It aims to protect the sustainable development of mountain tourism.
