June 2: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On June 1, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 5 new cases of confirmed infections (all are imported cases, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Shaanxi province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 8 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 547 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on June 1, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,761 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,698 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 63 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on June 1, the National Health Commission had received reports of 83,022 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 78,315 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 73 confirmed cases (including 3 in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. So far, 745,613 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 4,642 are now under medical observation.
On June 1, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 10 new asymptomatic cases (including 8 imported cases). 34 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 1 imported case) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on June 1, 371 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 39 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on June 1, 1,575 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,087 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 1,037 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 443 in Taiwan (7 had been dead and 427 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
