Government, enterprises cooperate on product promotion

Dongsheng district in Ordos city -- in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- has been working with business to help lift local poverty-stricken areas out of poverty and boost countryside development, according to local officials.

The cooperation focuses on promoting Ordos’ produced beef, mutton and agricultural products to domestic Chinese markets.

At a signing ceremony held in the district on May 26, a total of 15 State-owned enterprises and SOEs directly managed by the central government signed supply and marketing agreements with Dongsheng district’s Hantai Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Development Co, Boerjiang Haizi Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Development Co and Zhijita Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Development Co.

Officials said the total contracts were worth 4.48 million yuan ($630,000).

Meanwhile, 10 central SOEs settling in Ordos signed expressions of interest with Dong Liang Group, an agricultural production trade company from China’s northernmost Heilongjiang province.

Under the terms of the cooperation agreements, major retail company Wangfujing Group Co will take the lead in opening an Ordos Poverty Alleviation and Agricultural Products Special Zone in its supermarkets across the country.

Officials said this is so that its customers can buy high-quality and fresh agricultural and livestock products produced in Ordos.

They added that China Post, meanwhile, will take full use of its logistics network to help Ordos products sell online.
