The 10 most popular tourist attractions in Shenyang -- capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province -- was unveiled on May 19, according to local media reports.
The 10 hot tourist spots include the "one palace and two tombs" -- Shenyang Palace Museum, Fuling Tomb, Zhaoling Tomb -- as well as Marshal Zhang's Mansion Museum.
Local tourist officials said that also taking a bow is the Memorial Hall of the Former Site of CPC's Manchuria Provincial Committee, the 9.18 Historical Museum and the Industrial Museum of China.
Also on the list are Liaoning Provincial Museum, Shenyang Botanical Garden (Shenyang Expo Garden), the historical site of "evening crossing of Hunhe River", the Shenyang Qipan Mountain scenic area and Shenyang Wolong Lake scenic area.
Officials said that the selection was launched on May 13, with the aim to promote development of the culture, tourism and other related sectors, as well as showcasing Shenyang's long history and profound culture.
Following 30 days of applications, preliminary reviews, online votes and final reviews, the 10 tourist attractions were selected by both residents and experts.
Officials said that on May 1-5, a total of 1.18 million people participated in the online voting. Well-known history and culture experts in Liaoning and Shenyang were also invited to participate in the evaluations.
Officials said the 10 selected scenic spots showcase Shenyang's history, culture, as well as environmental and modern achievements in an all-round way.
