Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has completed cable broadband and 4G network coverage after four years of efforts, greatly enhancing communication infrastructure construction in the county.
Since 2016, China Mobile's Guangxi branch has invested a total of 214 million yuan ($29.97 million) to build 670 4G communication base stations and open broadband service in 1,090 communities. As of May 2020, all 12 towns and 139 administrative villages in the county have access to 4G networks, while mobile broadband coverage has reached 93 percent.
The company has effectively reduced rural communication tariffs, benefiting 22,200 impoverished users in the county and allowing 1,259 impoverished students to enjoy free mobile data traffic and broadband services. It also carried out nearly 2,000 information sessions to popularize internet knowledge for poor residents.
In addition, the company has vigorously promoted information-based poverty alleviation, providing a cloud videoconferencing system for the Huanjiang Poverty Alleviation Office, as well as monitoring services for small and micro industries in the county.
