Data platform helps poverty alleviation efforts in Yizhou

Yizhou district in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region set up a data and information platform last year, which has made significant contributions to the local poverty alleviation efforts.

In October 2019, the district first explored the establishment of a poverty alleviation data information command center in Hechi after integrating the information resources of the poverty alleviation system and communicating with the authoritative organizations of big data information technology research and development.

A top notch team comprised of staff from 21 key industry departments of 16 townships were selected to form four working groups for data information input, data comparison, field verification, and inter-village cross-checking, carrying out detailed work plans, time arrangements, and operation processes in an orderly manner.

The platform urged and guided the poverty-alleviation officials to check information and learn about the difficulties and problems encountered by impoverished villages and impoverished households with the informationization, dynamics, and precision of poverty alleviation data.

At present, the district has established chronic disease cards for 915 impoverished people, renovated dilapidated houses for 222 impoverished people, and provided skills training to 70 impoverished students.

From 2016 to 2019, 56,486 people in Yizhou district were lifted out of poverty and the incidence of poverty decreased from 10.8 percent to 0.7 percent.
