Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province, has called for more considerate and civilized traveling -- as part of a wider initiative to create a more civilized city, according to local authorities.
As early as before the May Day holiday, the city's culture, tourism, radio and television bureau released posters to promote more considerate behavior and civilized traveling.
The city is urging visitors to keep off the grass and flowers and protect public property, as well as to protect the environment -- whether you are traveling within the country or abroad.
The city's culture, tourism, radio and television bureau also printed brochures for civilized traveling and organized volunteers to give out brochures to visitors in scenic spots such as the Shenyang Palace Museum and Marshal Zhang's Mansion.
It also organized promotional activities at the 9.18 Historical Museum and cooperated with units including the city's transport bureau to advocate civilized traveling.
Officials said that this year, the city plans to promote the construction of 102 rural culture squares, to accelerate the development of rural tourism and to boost rural civilization.
