In recent years, Xi'an High-tech Industries Development Zone (XHTZ) has attached a great deal of importance to investment in people's livelihoods and in so doing it has accelerated the balanced development of its education system, while vigorously developing the industrial economy, according to XHTZ officials.
During the construction of various school projects, the XHTZ has not only provided fresh air and direct drinking water systems for high-standard primary and secondary schools, but also added facilities such as swimming pools, libraries and a sports ground with a roof to enrich school life.
With a total investment of 843 million yuan ($118.72 million), the XHTZ No 11 Junior Middle School is being built with 36 classrooms and will go into use on June 30 this year.
XHTZ officials said a special roof greening process has been adopted in the construction. They said it will become a modern, ecological and intelligent school after completion.
Meanwhile, the new school area of the Xi’an Gaoxin No 1 Primary School covers an area of 62,742.58 square meters, with a total investment of 647 million yuan.
Officials said that in order to create an open, diverse, flexible, green, vibrant and energetic school, the project plan covers four major parts: a teaching area, living area, sports area and an office area.
They added that as of mid-April, 11 of the 50 newly built schools had completed construction, seven of which had been put into operation and 29 have been capped. The other 10 are rushing forward to complete their main construction.
