Ordos’s new energy production shows growth trend

With the gradual weakening of the impact of the novel coronavirus epidemic, the industrial production and business activities of the city of Ordos in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region have resumed in an orderly manner, according to local officials.

From January to April, energy companies in Ordos were continuing producing and the energy supply was guaranteed.

From January to April, the city's coal enterprises above a designated size – those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.8 million) or more – produced 19.11 million tons of raw coal, a year-on-year decrease of 24.27 million tons, or down 11.3 percent.

From January to April, the city's power generation totaled 34.73 billion kWh, a year-on-year decrease of 1.1 percent.

Of this, hydropower generation amounted to 770 million kWh, down 7.4 percent and thermal power generated 32.91 billion kWh, a year-on-year decrease of 1.0 percent.

With the decline of traditional power generation, new energy power generation grew, up 0.13 percent year on year. Of that, solar power generation was 770 million kWh, an increase of 1.9 percent.
