Xianju, a county in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, is seeking to become an all-for-one garden county as a part of Big Garden construction in Zhejiang.
The county is expected to grow into a hub for county-level green development in China, a national renowned healthcare center and a popular tourism destination for global tourists by 2022 by constructing a national park, beautiful cities, villages, gardens, rivers and industrial parks.
At present, Xianju has two provincial-level beautiful rivers, three State-level beautiful gardens, four provincial-level demonstration towns for the construction of beautiful villages, and 14 provincial-level beautiful villages.
Last year, Xianju greatly improved its natural envrionment. The average concentration of PM2.5 in the county was 25 micrograms per cubic meter, meaning it has good air all year round, and the quality of its drinking water met national standards.
The county pushed forward the construction of its all-for-one tourism demonstration zone in 2019, further completing supporting tourism facilities, steady progress was made on the expansion of Shenxianju scenic area, also known as the Dwelling of Immortals, a national 5A scenic spot, and the Oxygen Bar town in Xianju became the first provincial-level special town in Taizhou.
Construction was sped up on transportation projects last year, including the Jinhua-Taizhou railway, the Xianju section of S315 provincial-level highway, and beautiful roads. Construction on the Xianju section of the Hangzhou-Wenzhou high-speed railway began in the same year.
In 2019, Xianju also stepped up cultivation of new drivers for green economy, developing its healthcare, tourism and cultural industries and introducing more medical device-related projects. In September, Xianju witnessed the signing of 20 such projects worth roughly 10.25 billion yuan ($1.45 billion), and the growth rate of its tourism revenue has stayed above 22 percent for three consecutive years.
In 2020, Xianju will make the most of its strong natural environment to attract more tourists from the Yangtze River Delta region, accelerate the development of healthcare, entertainment, sports and tourism industries, organize a series of tourism, cultural and sports events, and speed up the construction of 10 symbolic projects.
The 10 symbolic projects include the Road of Poetry of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), famous mountain parks, cycling greenways, river management, beautiful villages, happiness industry or healthcare, entertainment, sports, and tourism industries, colorful forests, road construction, and 5A-level scenic areas.
