Yantai govt hosts online press conference

An online news conference on the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) was held by the information office of Yantai municipal people's government on Feb 8.

The conference brought together government officials to answer questions regarding the reopening of schools and companies, as well as on a number of other issues related to the current situation.

Journalists from nearly 20 local media outlets attended remotely and put their questions to the attendees.

Hosting the conference online has enabled the local government to continue with its normal work, while reducing the risk of infection caused by groups of people gathering together.

"This was the first time that I have taken part in an online press conference. It is a practical and efficient way to keep working amid the current coronavirus outbreak," said Pang Jun, a senior reporter from Shandong Radio and Television Station.
