The Foxconn industrial park in Guian New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province, witnessed the production of its 100 millionth Huawei smart phone on May 7, marking a new era for the smart phone industry in Guian.
Foxconn's 4th-generation industrial park was launched in 2014, featuring environmentally-friendly, high-end intelligent facilities. It was selected as a national green factory in 2018, and achieved 21.3 billion yuan ($3.01 billion) in industrial output value in 2019.
Currently the first and second stage of the industrial park are completed, with over 18,000 employees, 95 percent of which are from Guizhou.
After four years of cooperation, Foxconn has become Huawei's most important strategic partner in Southwest China. Foxconn aims to accelerate the upgrading and technical innovation of its current manufacturing equipment, and to build a high-end intelligent factory to adapt to 5G technology.
By 2025, the annual output value of Foxconn industrial park will exceed 40 billion yuan, according to estimates.
As China's eighth national new area, Guian features big data and high-end equipment manufacturing industries. With advantages in transportation, environment, geology, energy, and services, Guian has attracted various supersized data centers such as Huawei, Foxconn, Apple and Tencent, becoming a demonstration data center in South China.
