Beijing-Tangshan inter-city high speed railway saw notable progress recently, when eleven of its sections were successfully joined together over a highway.
Starting from Beijing's sub-center Tongzhou district, in the city’s eastern suburbs, the intercity bullet train is set to run eastward via Tianjin’s Baodi district to Tangshan in Hebei province.
The sections of the railway in the Baodi district, which have to cross over the Tongzhou-Tangshan highways and a river, have a cantilever construction and pose the greatest challenges in the project.
Now, however, the sections over the highway have successfully been connected - an achievement made even more significant considering the disadvantages posed by the COVID-19 outbreak.
The railway is set to reduce travel times between the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei city clusters.
The whole journey runs 148.74 kilometers, with eight stops and a maximum speed of 350 km /hour.
